                                        •    New software version 4.0.1. This software version will be available on ALL new X-MET8000s from September 2017, and will include the same software features as version 4.0.

Daraclean 238, Daraclean 257 and MagnaVu Spray products are now classified as GHS skin corrosion 1C, classified as UN1760 Corrosive liquids, packing group III for shipping ground and ocean and are prohibited to be shipped by air.

There is no formula change in these products. This classification change is based on the results from these products being sent out for dermal corrosion testing.

 

Effective immediately, WC-1, ZL-4C and SKL-4C are now supplied in opaque, white 5-gal / 18.9 L pails due to the previous packaging being discontinued by MAGNAFLUX' packaging supplier.

GE IT now has 51 new Mentor Visual iQ kits released and available to RVI customers. These kits were primarily developed to support GE Aviation commercial engines, but many are fully applicable to help support other OEM engines. 
These kits allow customers to order a single part number and receive a Mentor Visual iQ system that is configured with the correct length & diameter probe, optical tips, software, and accessories to inspect a given engine. Note that for a given engine type, there may be multiple kits which may be able to inspect that engine.
These kits are fully configured with the proper length and optical tip adapters to meet the BSI inspection requirements of that engine, and are fully compliant with the latest GE Aviation BSI (BoreScope Inspection) kit requirements called out in the GE Aviation Standard Practice Manual SPM 70-32-84 Rev 105 dated 04/01/2016.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Products Limited is excited to announce the addition of ECHO-3D’s Electro-Magnetic Field Imaging (EMFI) and its digital data platform to its product line. NDT Products Limited partnered with Athena Industrial Services Inc. to launch this innovation for inspection of surface breaking defects in conductive materials for the Canadian market. This patented technology is a result of thousands of hours of research and development on Stress Crack Corrosion (SCC), and both general and localized surface corrosion.  

 

Athena released ECHO-3D kits in 2016 into the global NDT inspection marketplace for field trials. Feedback from the NDT industry to improvements in ECHO-3D’s data acquisition methods, data management and defect analysis including real time 3D modelling. With greater market interest, ECHO-3D is finding its way to more applications in various facets of NDT inspection.  

 

ECHO-3D’s inspection platform begins with its icon-based software that allows projects to be quickly created by the client or the inspection company and includes details such as technician’s qualifications, inspection equipment used and material specifics. ECHO-3D is a non-contact, defect detection and measurement technology that requires minimal surface preparation. The equipment can be used to inspect a wide variety of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials and can penetrate through non-conductive coatings such as paint or polyethylene coatings.

UltraVision Touch 3.8R13

New Features and Improvements:

Time Reversal on TOPAZ32 - Time Reversal is a real-time adaptive process, allowing for rapid and reliable phased array UT inspections on complex geometries such as CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers).  

Improvements to Axial Weld Proposed Setup - Several improvements are included in the UltraVision Touch version 3.8R13 to optimize the weld coverage when using the Propose Setup tool on an axial weld configuration.

Propose Setup for Corrosion probe - UltraVision Touch 3.8R13 now includes the support of both probe wiring types: Regular (REG): new probe wiring (for items 10053850 and 10053851) and Alternative (ALT): discontinued probe wiring (for items 10051864 and 10052070).

2M Matrix probes - When working with 2D-Matrix probes in TOPAZ32, the interface has been improved to clearly show the element reference numbers. Element configuration can also be set to a symmetrical emitter-receiver configuration. 

TCG Improvements - TOPΔZ16 now has the capability of combining analog and digital amplification on TCG to allow a TCG range of up to 80dB/µs. 

Clicker Indexer - Index Encoder can be configured to Clicker Indexer mode. This mode increments a configurable distance each time Clicker Indexer button is touched. 

 

UltraVision New Features and Improvements

DGS - DGS curves can be generated for each combination of specimen geometry and probe configuration, using either phased array or conventional probes.

Sectorial scan view improvement - Sectorial Views have been improved. An enhanced display algorithm improves display data positioning for crispier and more detailed images. 

Weld and Corrosion Propose Setup - Weld and Corrosion Proposed Setup tools, previously available only on UltraVision Touch, are now available through the Specimen menu in UltraVision.
When using a Pipe Axial Weld, Plate Butt Weld or Pipe Butt Weld specimens, the Weld Proposed Setup tool offers configurations adapted to the specimen thickness and for use with Zetec Weld Crawler scanner.

TOPAZ16 Support - UltraVision Classic 3.8R13 can use the TOPAZ16 as a remote data acquisition unit. Both Classic or Touch screen interfaces can be used when running UltraVision Classic.

Paintbrush Support on ZIRCON - Starting with version 3.8R13, UltraVision Classic also supports NDT PaintBrush in ZIRCON.

Time Reversal on TOPAZ32 - Time Reversal, previously available only on ZIRCON and QUARTZ, can now be used on the TOPAZ32 when using a TOPAZ32 Time Reversal-enabled instrument and can also be performed using UltraVision Classic and a TOPAZ32 as a RDAU.

Pause Mode - The Pause mode, enables users to access analysis tools in acquisition mode. When pausing an acquisition, it is now possible to: Change the focal law displayed, choose the data position displayed, do sizing and measurements with cursors, and move gate selector in dynamic views.

Non-Corrected C-Scan views - The Non-Corrected C-Scan View displays the amplitude readings of each focal law taken from the gate and plotting the information side by side, without correction for actual angle.

Read back mode - Read Back mode, allows reading data files automatically after they are saved.

Improved Compound Scan - Compound Scan has been improved to include: The resolution for the compound scan is adjustable replacing the previous Sparse/Dense option. The increment in aperture element is a function of the number of focal laws and the length of the probe to cover.

Oxford Instruments has launched a new app, OiConnect, for fast data sharing on-site for use with their range of X-MET8000 handheld X-ray fluorescence (HHXRF) analysers. The OiConnect app allows X-MET users to share their test results as soon as they are acquired, without having to go back to the office and/or connect to a computer.

  Complete transactions and share test results faster

Once downloaded on the user’s iOS mobile device (phone, tablet), the OiConnect app grabs the X-MET8000’s test data in real-time, so that it can be shared on-the-spot via e-mail, instant message, etc. with colleagues, suppliers and customers alike. Photos and other useful information (e.g. weight, price, batch number, and order details) can be added before the data is sent so that transactions can be completed quickly. Unlike other solutions available, there is no need to connect to a computer to generate a report and/or forward the data. All that is required is a WiFi or mobile data connection.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Product Limited is excited to announce important changes to the services we are able to offer you.  Over the past two years, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Products Limited has invested in personnel, equipment and training for our technical support staff to allow us to expand our repair, calibration and testing capabilities. First, the NDT Products’ Service Brochure highlighting our new offerings, which include factory-authorized calibration and repairs for GE Inspection Technologies and Oxford Instruments is now available.  Click on link to download new service brochure.

 

Additionally, the new “Request for Service” form which will be required for every instrument or piece of equipment sent in to our location for servicing.  Critical information regarding the service required (e.g., equipment model, serial number, contact information, etc.) will be captured on this form to assist our service technicians in properly diagnosing the issues with your equipment.  As part of this process change, a flat evaluation fee will now be charged as follows:

After the initial evaluation performed by our service technicians, you will be contacted with a full diagnosis of the equipment problem. At this point, you can decide on the proper course of action, either to have your equipment serviced or returned to you.  The evaluation fee will be invoiced regardless of whether or not you decide to proceed with the recommended service. Lastly, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Products Limited. is in the process of setting up a satellite service department in our new location in Edmonton, Alberta.  The new service department will specifically cater to the needs of our Western Canada customers. Please keep an eye out for further announcements on this exciting development.

The end of Product Support date for MD-1000 has changed to June 30, 2016 as we are no longer able to obtain components for this equipment.

 Product Support for these units will end when our inventory of MD-1000 circuit boards is depleted.

To assist our valued customers with equipment affected by this announcement, pricing information on replacement models to this Service Bulletin is available upon request. We understand our customers want to hold on to their units forever, but changes in technology have made MAGNAFLUX units more user-friendly and easier to troubleshoot.

With the launch of their new EV-6000 UV LED light, Magnaflux has now established policies for support and "phase out" of the EV-5000 parts.

In establishing the policies, they took into account the cost for repair (parts and labor) compared to the cost of the new EV-6000.
All EV-5000’s that were sold in 2015 are being considered under warranty until December 31, 2016.

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has the charter to help insure member utilities that their plants are run safely and efficiently. Member utilities participate in the development of techniques and technologies to achieve this goal through the "Performance Demonstration Initiative (PDI). PDI addresses all these issues by:

• Austenitic Piping:
  • Added (25) shear wave probe /angle combinations
  • Added (1) refracted Longitudinal probe
• Ferritic Piping: Added (18) Shear wave probe/angle combinations
  • ¼”, 3/8” and ½” in 2.25 MHz and 5.0 MHz with 45, 60 and 70 angles

The USM 36 Series of ultrasonic portable flaw detectors has been on the market for over two years. The USM 36 has a large, higher resolution (800 x 480 pixels) screen, simple SD card data storage, tunable square-wave pulser for attenuative materials, 15 to 2000 Hz adjustable PRF, longer range in steel, automatic gate threshold, and loud audible horn. All this at a competitive price!
 

With that, the USM 35 series of ultrasonic flaw detectors will be discontinued on December 31, 2016,  meaning that Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Products Limited can no longer accept orders, but all reasonable efforts will be maintained to repair this product for the next 5 years.

The ICTMS 2015 is the biannual conference of the IntACT (International Association of Computed Tomography).  This year, the event will be held on June 29th to July 4th in Quebec, Canada.  This four full day congress is dedicated to CT-Scanning for non-medical applications.
